We are proud to present the Orbit collection, our new line of sleek and modern urns. Designed with the future in mind and with deep respect for nature.
What makes this collection extra special is its origin. The entire process from design and development to production takes place in the Netherlands, locally in Tiel, by Blauwdruk 3D. This means you choose a high-quality Dutch product that is manufactured with craftsmanship, innovation and an eye for detail.
Sustainability is also central. The entire production process runs on locally generated solar energy. In addition, our 3D printers are very energy efficient: during printing, they consume only 75 to 85 watts, less than a traditional 100-watt incandescent light bulb. This allows us to combine local production, innovation and efficient energy use.
The Orbit urns are made from PHA, a bio-based biopolymer produced through bacterial fermentation. No trees need to be cut down for the production of this material. Over time, the urns fully decompose through microorganisms, tested and certified by TÜV Austria for soil, fresh water and marine environments, leaving no microplastics behind. A comforting and circular idea.
At home, traditional, or in nature
The beauty of this material is its versatility in use. As long as the Orbit urn remains indoors, the material stays in a stable state. You can therefore give the urn a beautiful, prominent place in your home indefinitely.
If, after some time, you choose a final resting place? Then the urn is suitable for a traditional cemetery, a natural burial ground, or for ashes to be placed in water or at sea. The decomposition only begins when the urn comes into direct contact with the natural microorganisms in the soil or water.
Five carefully coordinated sizes
Our Orbit line starts with five sizes to meet every wish:
Orbit Seed (25 ml): a subtle mini-urn or keepsake for a symbolic amount of ashes. Also suitable for storing other tangible memories, such as teeth or baby teeth.
Orbit Sprout (250 ml): compact and elegant for distributing ashes among multiple next of kin.
Orbit Blossom (550 ml): a medium-sized model with a modern look.
Orbit Forest (3.50 L): a full-sized urn, designed to leave a lasting impression.
Orbit Horizon (5.50 L): our largest model, sleekly designed with a wide, serene appearance.
Certified certainty: more than just a green label
Safety and objective quality are paramount to us. Our basic material is not just "green"; it has been independently tested by TÜV Austria:
- OK Biodegradable SOIL biodegradable in soil (OKT 2026)
- OK Biodegradable WATER biodegradable in fresh water (OKT 2026)
- OK Biodegradable MARINE biodegradable in marine environment
- OK Compost HOME suitable for home composting
These certifications are linked to official test methods and certificate numbers, and can be viewed upon request. We believe that sustainability must be proven with independent certification, not with a green label on the packaging.
Colors and availability
The modern design of the Orbit collection has been developed for a palette of ten stylish colors. We are starting in phases: our timeless Beige color is immediately available from stock. The other color options will be tested for popularity in the initial phase, so the production run of these colors will initially be more limited.
Future: What is Blauwdruk 3D's vision for the future?
For us, the Orbit urns are just the beginning. We are constantly evolving and are already actively working behind the scenes on new, innovative shapes and designs.
Sustainable product development is our ambition, extending beyond urns alone. We aim to further develop our production with biodegradable materials (such as PHA) in the long term into a wider range of sustainable funeral products. This includes fully biodegradable coffins and other ecological funeral products.
Sharing knowledge and materials: in addition, we want to actively help green the funeral industry. Our vision is to offer our unique designs on a licensing basis. We also want to make the biodegradable basic material itself available. In this way, other companies and funeral directors can use our designs and materials to produce these sustainable products locally themselves.
